SENSATIONAL HOMEWORK TASKS!

THANK YOU grade 5! I was so pleased with the wonderful effort many of you have put in to your homework activities. The family trees, video interview, powerpoint presentations, character profiles and sport origins were great. Keep this up girls and boys. It certainly shows when you put in time and effort on your projects. It is important to aim high and do your best and feel proud of your finished piece of work.  You are all such capable students,  so don’t leave your projects to the last minute and rush to get them in. I am really looking forward to seeing your next activities.

Another fabulous week and welcome to Miss Wild

Grade 5 have had another wonderful week full of great activities and fun. Everyone participated brilliantly in the Olympic events held at school last Tuesday. It was a busy but fun morning! A big thank you to Mr. Armstrong for organising the morning’s activities.

I could not have been more pleased with the great effort students put in on their J-Rock writing! It was a delight to read about their experiences and everyone really put in a super effort to describe their feelings and the atmosphere surrounding J-Rock. I would encourage parents to read the wonderful work on display in the corridor if they have the opportunity.

A special welcome to Miss Wild, who is visiting us for a couple of weeks. We are delighted to have her helping us in our classroom.

We are now looking forward to our special Literacy & Numeracy week activities beginning on Monday 1st September.

Term 3 learning journey so far….

Grade 5 students have certainly made a wonderful start to the term. They have continued to be so enthusiastic about our J-Rock performance and rehearsals are progressing very well.

We have begun the term with a focus on Resilience and the need to ‘bounce back’ when life can be a bit of a challenge! We have had some wonderful discussions and I am so proud of all students. They have shared some  great ideas, offering some well thought out advice to enable all of us to ‘bounce back’. Many of their thoughts are on display in the corridor or near the office and I am sure you will be impressed wih their ideas. The ability to be resilient is such an important life skill and grade 5 are certainly showing an increased awareness of this skill.

Our visual arts focus this term will include a study of Chinese art forms, particularly shadow puppets. This focus will also link in with our investigation of China during the Olympic Games. There are a number of great websites that demonstrate the intricate detail involved in the creation of these puppets.

Draon Shadow puppet We have been looking at various images and using paper and card to create different people, creatures and even dragons.

Welcome to the Fabulous Fives!

Welcome to Grade 5T’s class blog at Menzies Creek Primary School. We are new to this and we hope you enjoy viewing our latest learning adventures. We also hope that this blog provides a place for communication between  students , parents,  family, our community and teachers. We encourage parent involvement and feedback that will support our learning. This space will be used to post information about what we are learning in 5T and about our progress. We will be able to publish some of our work on the blog and get feedback from our peers and family! We hope that we will gradually develop our own blogs which are linked to the class blog. Check out the ‘pages’ section where you will find references and links to items of interest for parents and students. We look forward to your comments and feedback.
